He's Going Places

...and not just to the hospital. I can't help but do a quick mommy brag here - last week, when his Aunt Rhonda was holding his hands, Thomas took about six real steps. !!! This is very exciting progress. By that I mean she and I both teared up. *

Also, today, he crawled on all fours all the way across the hospital room. !!! He's been crawling-ish; more a combination of sort of slithering and rolling and inching. Creative, but it looked inefficient. Now, we've got a mover and a shaker.

Scott said the ball they were playing with rolled off his mat (Child Life has a mat that we put on the floor for Thomas to play on), and Scott signed and said, "Thomas, where's the ball?" Thomas smiled, turned over on his belly, crawled way over to where the ball had landed by the sink, sat himself up, and cried. He is so determined to make progress no matter how bad he feels. My son is cool.

*Rhonda more than me. I was more excited, but Rhonda's more of a ...I was going to say a girl, but it's really a McManus. It's the Irish in us, we can't help it.

Please continue with all of your "mommy brags". I --we all--want to hear about EVERY ONE of them. When you hurt - we hurt - when you are happy - we all are happy. You are so loved - Sarah --Scott and Thomas!!

I am Just sOoooOOo happy that you guys ARE getting the "normal" baby happenings too. And, in spite of the circumstance, how wonderful it is for Scott - a/k/a Daddy - to get to experience things that usually daddy's only get to hear about over dinner. Yippppeeee for crawling, pulling up, walking!!! I can't wait to see him again soon!!!

Congratulations on joining the population of Homo Erectus, Thomas! Now if we can get you a Little Tikes spear, you've got it made!

With a tear in my eye - much love,

Beware!!! Your lives will NEVER be the same again when Thomas is fully mobile on his own! These are exciting days in mommy/daddy land as all these new and wonderful milestones come to pass! The next thing you know you will be saying is "Remember when Thomas took those steps with Aunt Rhonda?" (He will probably be getting his own snack at that point!)

Enjoy these moments. They go by all too quickly! I am so happy that there are such goodies to brag about. That is exactly what being a mom is about!

Yeah Thomas,

Yes the crying is a McManus thing. It is a good thing Rhonda and I weren't in the same room together. We would have used the whole klennex box. Even though I am not blood related to the McManus I am still quite Irish so I guess it must be the Irish in us.

I am so happy I will try to catch up with you this weekend.

Love Nana

Yeah Thomas,

It's a good thing your Dad and I weren't in the room there would be no kleenex left in the hospital. I am so happy. I wish I could have been there. Please know I am there in spirit. I will try and catch up this weekend I have money to give you.

Love Nana
