One of the things Thomas’s oncologist is good at is warning us when we’re about to hit the big stuff. Phrases like, “I have bad news” give our minds time to race to emergency stations and brace for what’s next.

So, I have bad news.

Thomas’s MRI results from last week showed that his tumor is back. It is inoperable. We have discontinued chemotherapy.

We are sad, intermittantly, or underlyingly: it's hard to believe this is real when Thomas is riding around on his trike and "talking" on a plastic measuring cup held to his ear. Off the chemo and not experiencing effects of the tumor yet, he's a handful, squeezing the fun out of every moment of the day.

I don’t know exactly how the immediate future will look. There are conversations and meetings to be had, some easier than others. I think the next couple months with him are going to be golden, so we're going to try to focus on that.

As far as y'all, our faithful readers, go, we appreciate your support as much as ever. We're ok for now. We know you're there for us and I promise, we'll let you know if we need anything.

I do think we'll be on haitus here at the blog for a month or so while we focus on getting through this very cold season.

Oh, Sarah --

I'm sad along with you at Thomas' news. You will continue to be in my prayers. I wish I knew words that could carry more than those.

Peace, my friend

Sarah and Scott, I am so sorry. I don't know what else to do other than pray. And pray hard. God can work miracles and that is what I pray for.

Bless you,

God give you strength and comfort. So many people share your sadness, including your old comrades at Jasper.
I hope and pray that you'll squeeze every drop of joy from the weeks to come.
Most sincerely,

Thoughts and prayers are with you all. Give Thomas several huge hugs, and kiss his little cheeks so many times it makes him laugh, and brings a smile to your face....and just hold on.

Crying as I write this....

B*ll*cks, b*ll*cks, b*ll*cks

"squeezing the fun out of every moment of the day" - a perfect motto. Live by it.

Yeah. And post loads of pictures and film of Thomas.

OH LORD NO!!! This is all I can say and it is not helpful. This is a time when I wish I knew elegant profound words to say but I don’t.
I can only cry out to the Lord for you!
And cry…and cry…any cry. Please OH PLEASE let me know if there is anything I can do for you!!!

This is really not fair. This REALLY STINKS!!

Your faith, and the multitude of prayers on your behalf will get you through. I feel as if I know you and your son. You have no idea how many folks Thomas' blog has touched.
Heavenly Father, we lift Thomas up to you Lord. It is our desire to have him with us, and a testimony to your healing power, but Lord we also know that you're the grand designer of this life. We give the reigns to you. Cradle him in your arms and allow your will to be done. Gird up his parents with the strength that only can be supplied by you. In your name we pray.

There are no words. No words at all.

Just sincere thoughts of kindness and strength.
